Granite and Feathers was inspired by a visit to Haytor in Dartmoor...I walked up to the tor and typically for Dartmoor as soon as I reached the top the heavens opened and deposited a heavy downpour of rain across the landscape...I found shelter below some rocks and decided to wait it out. Before my eyes the landscape turned into a swirling blanket of mist and rain...I was joined by a Robin also looking for shelter and we sat watching each other for quite a while. It occurred to me how fragile these beautiful birds are, especially on Dartmoor. The harshness of the granite rocks and extremes of weather contrasted with the softness and fragility of such a small bird...I usually find that nature gives you a reward for visiting her and this moment was just that.....
