Preening Avocets

This was painted as a demonstation when I exhibited at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Arundel in 2002. I collected together a series of unfinished sketches from my previous visits to Titchwell Nature resreve in Norfolk to create this composition of preening avocets. I mixed shades of coral and cooler blues to create a subtle sunset over the reserve. I was thrilled to sell this painting on the spot!
