I painted this Mute swan when I had an exhibition at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Arundel. I came across this swan on its' nest and immediately knew the title of this painting. 'Nose in blanket' is a term that a very good friend of mine used when birds have their bills tucked in the warmth of feathers!
